Redouté's Sparaxis bulbifera portrays a Bulbil-Sparaxis with convincing realism. Published c. 1804 in volume two of Les Liliacées, Sparaxis bulbifera began under the name Ixia anemonæflora and later changed to Ixia anemoniflora, until its specimen was completely reclassified. Splayed leaves on either side of the flower present an even composition, while twisted fronds appear tangible. Redouté meticulously employs shadows and highlights to capture form.
