My passion for paper started super early. My dad would take my sister, brother, and me to the racetrack. YEP. We must have been the youngest patrons. We spent most of our time at Churchill Downs, under the bleachers, collecting discarded betting slips. The best. Back then they came in all different colors, and we would zoom around as they fell through the seats after each race. Dad had a rule about just how many you could bring home. I can’t even remember what that number was. We small hoarders had a system. We would stuff our unders with race slips to the point of busting. Not sure how we all got back in the light blue Beetle at the end of the day without out an eruption. Where there is a will there is a way, and no way was one single dirty slip getting away. Getting home and unloading was tricky, as Mom was a sleuth when it came to secret compartment stash-don’t ever ask me about the time on Delta and the small individual wrapped soaps-HORROR. Needless to say, my mattress was ripe with secrets. So, there you have it, the start of this. I have never given up my love for small flat treasures and now I get to share them with you.
