A series of paintings literally made from work that was rejected over time in the studio process. When stuck in a creative rut, there is always the option to move forward and make new work, but cutting up those troubled paintings was a lot more fun and a sure way to get new ideas flowing. These paintings are 12 in. squares that served as a playful release in the studio, finding new ways to respond with paint. The experimental compositions may be referenced in future works, but the most important lesson taken away from this work was to loosen up and not make painting feel so precious that it hinders your ability to keep making.
